Gabriel Torres Rodriguez

Front-end/full-stack software engineer, jack of all trades artist, photographer, and creative

My core value is that I love building things, especially if it's something tricky. Always have and always will. It's what unites my work as software engineer with my artwork. I had experience building neat things like a free-form report editor and completely revamping old UIs into sleeker, faster, versions with the help of UX teammates who I can collaborate with. I see it like the partnerships I have a few other artists I collaborate with. It's usually where my best pieces come from to be honest.

At the deepest level, I am a scientist. I just want to see what would happen if you did something. Sometimes it's what would it look like to draw a maze based sections of pattern and texture. Yes, the lung maze was drawn by hand and the physical version is a monument to what you can do with a load of microns, a backlog of podcasts, and 4 months. I focus on trying out new techniques, mediums, themes, and art styles half the time, and the other half on what do you do with junk and half baked projects from years past to give them new meaning.

This site is a personal catalog of all those relics of your past you might run into again that trigger your memory vividly... even if those ideas were hastily scribbled on a crumpled bill from years ago. I've created this site to share the experiments and achievements I've been encountered along this long strange journey. I'm open to commissions too if you've got your own what if questions you want answered artistically.
